Why I Upgraded My FlightScope Mevo Gen 2 to the Pro Package

The standard FlightScope Mevo Gen 2 gave me plenty of useful shot information, but upgrading to the Pro Package changed how I use my simulator. Instead of only seeing what the ball did, I could start understanding what the club was doing through impact—and that is where the setup became much more valuable for actually improving my swing.

The amount of information can look intimidating at first. My experience, however, is that the additional data is most useful when you do not try to fix everything at once. Pick the number that explains the miss you are working on, make a small change and see whether the pattern improves.

What the Mevo Gen 2 Pro Package adds

What the data showed me as a brand-new golfer

I only started playing golf this year. Early on, I was above a 30 handicap; I am currently a 17.1. Practice, playing experience and swing changes all contributed to that improvement, so I would not credit one device or software upgrade for the entire drop. The Pro Package has, however, become an important feedback tool because it shows me whether the change I am trying to make is actually happening.

Bringing my club path closer to neutral

The data showed that my club path was travelling too far in-to-out. Without measured club data, I could see the resulting shots but was largely guessing at the cause. Once I could track the path number, I was able to make an adjustment and bring the club delivery closer to square—or more neutral—relative to my target line.

The useful part was not producing one good swing. I could hit a group of shots and see whether the overall path pattern was moving in the right direction.

Moving my iron low point forward

I was also struggling with a low point that occurred at, or sometimes behind, the ball with my irons. That made solid contact difficult and contributed to heavy strikes. The Pro Package made the problem measurable.

By using low-point feedback during practice, I have been able to move the bottom of the swing farther forward. That gives me a much clearer objective than simply telling myself to “hit the ball first.” I can make an adjustment, hit another group and confirm whether the strike pattern and the measured low point are improving together.

These two examples are why the advanced data matters to me. Club path helped address the direction of the club through impact, while low point helped address iron contact. Instead of reacting only to the outcome, I could work on the delivery that created it.

The important shift: from ball flight to cause

Basic ball data tells you the result: where the shot started, how it curved, how far it carried and how efficiently speed transferred to the ball. That information is valuable, but it does not always tell you why the shot happened.

The Pro Package adds the club-delivery information that connects cause and effect. Club path helps explain the direction the club is travelling through impact. Face-to-path describes the face relationship that strongly influences curvature. Face-to-target helps explain the starting direction. Low point shows where the bottom of the swing occurs relative to the ball, while dynamic loft helps explain launch and spin.

That combination makes practice far more specific. A poor shot is no longer just “a slice,” “a pull” or “a fat iron.” You can begin identifying whether the pattern is coming from the face, the path, the strike location in the swing arc or the loft being delivered at impact.

The numbers I would learn first

1. Club path

Club path gives you a clear view of whether the club is travelling left or right of the target line through impact. It is one of the most useful starting points because it helps expose a repeatable swing pattern rather than judging the swing from a single ball flight.

2. Face to path

Face-to-path connects the clubface to the swing direction. When you are trying to understand unwanted curve, this relationship is more useful than looking at path or face angle in isolation.

3. Face to target

This helps explain where the ball begins relative to the intended target. Combining it with face-to-path makes it easier to separate a start-direction problem from a curvature problem.

4. Low point

For iron shots, low point can be especially revealing. It helps show whether the bottom of the swing is occurring in a position that supports solid contact. This turns “I hit that heavy” into a measurable pattern you can work on.

5. Dynamic loft

Dynamic loft is the loft actually delivered at impact. It helps provide context for launch angle, spin and distance, and it can reveal why two swings with similar speed produce very different trajectories.

Why the visual club data matters

The 2D and 3D club animations make the measurements easier to understand. Numbers become more useful when you can see the club’s delivery represented visually, particularly when working on the relationship between face angle, path, swing plane and low point.

This is one of the reasons I see the Pro Package as more than an upgrade for people who simply enjoy collecting data. It can shorten the feedback loop: hit a shot, review the delivery, make one intentional adjustment and hit again.

How I would practise with it

  1. Choose one ball-flight problem. Start with a consistent miss rather than rebuilding the entire swing.
  2. Select one or two relevant parameters. For curvature, begin with club path and face-to-path. For contact, begin with low point.
  3. Establish a baseline. Hit a small group of normal shots before making a change.
  4. Make one adjustment. Avoid changing grip, stance, alignment and swing feel at the same time.
  5. Look for a pattern. Judge a group of shots, not the best or worst swing in the session.
  6. Keep the change that improves both delivery and ball flight. Better numbers should support a better, more repeatable result.

Data does not replace instruction

More measurements do not automatically tell every golfer which swing change to make. The Pro Package is excellent at showing what happened, but interpretation still matters. A qualified coach can help connect the data to your mechanics and prevent you from chasing a number that is not relevant to your swing.

The best use of the system is not trying to make every parameter look “perfect.” It is using reliable feedback to understand your tendencies, confirm whether a change is working and practise with a clear purpose.

Is the Mevo Gen 2 Pro Package worth it?

For someone using the Mevo Gen 2 mainly to play simulator golf, the standard data may already be enough. For someone who wants to understand and improve the swing, the Pro Package is much easier to justify.

For me, the added information is important because it changes the simulator from an entertainment room into a serious practice environment. The data helped me identify an excessively in-to-out path and an iron low point that was at or behind the ball. It then gave me objective feedback while I worked to bring the path closer to neutral and move the low point forward.

As a new golfer who has moved from above a 30 handicap to 17.1 during my first year, I value anything that makes practice more deliberate. The Pro Package did not make the changes for me, but it made the problems—and the progress—far easier to see.
